Ive gotta look at a job tomorrow. the customer told me on the phone that his garden backs onto a golf course and there are a few trees on the land belonging to the golf course that are growing so close to his house he wants them taking down. the golf course has said thats they can be taken down as long as he pays for the work doing. im wundering if the trees are causing a problem who should cover the cost? golf course or customer?

Go and ask the Golf course yourself, then get paid off the other guy, How would the modern tree world cope without Arbtalk :confused1::001_rolleyes::laugh1:

If you benefit from the removal you pay for it, he should think himself lucky the club are allowing it since it sets a precedent for other neighbours.

Pretty much the only time you can recover costs for it the abatement of an ongoing (actionable in law) nuisance where the tree owner has failed to act when asked to.

Use the works as an opportunity to chat to the greens chairman or at least the head greenskeeper.
