all good advice. have confidence in yourself and relax. again: use a frictionsaver set high in the tree canopy and keep the angle of your rope straight from your anchor point to where your are climbing to. again use your body weight in your rope to climb around the tree. i always believe its better to start using the french pruissik straight away rather than trying to make the transition later on from a prussik loop. the french prussik in partnership with a friction saver gives you the ability to climb smoother and there fore your confidence and ability will increase 10 fold.

sometimes i try and off set the anchor so i can lean out on the back of the branch with the rope out in front, that way you can lean right back and are not being pulled off the top of the branch your walking out on. you can also then use both hands to grab ot for other branches etc to get further out because the anchor and your position on the branch holds you in place.

I'm new to climbing too mate, how much did you do at college??? We had whole days spent on different trees branch walking, cross overs and limb jumping, a few of us came out quite the worse for wear from it the first few times, in fact one night when i was laying in bed i thought i may have broken a bone in my leg, it took 3 weeks for the bruising to fade!!!! But now the few of us that kept trying and trying and trying, are now able to access the parts other lads cant!!!!!
