I'd have to be careful that I didn't mutter under my breath about my groundie, and vice versa. :blushing:

Although I can't imagine I ever give him reason to grumble!! :001_cool:

Is it not simpler just to get a few of those little PMR-type radios that you can buy in just about any high-street shop and use a headset on those?

The earpieces will go easily under your normal ear protection and you can buy these radios with standard mics or throat mics. Admittedly, there is a wire that most certainly will get caught around just about everything!

I'm just interested in why those aren't seen as particularly suitable - seems easier than setting up your mobile as a walky-talky.

The Bluetooth sets don’t use your phone because only has a weedy 10M +/- range and can’t be used.

The headsets have a 200m range and unlike “walkie talkies” are interference free and because the signal is digital they are a clear as a bell. Voice activated and noise cancelling technology means you don’t have to press a button and you don’t accidentally transmit chainsaw noise.

Not cheap but the quality is there. At the moment the sets are paired and can only speak to each other but multi set technology is on the way.

Oh and it’s all contained in the headset so no trailing wires.

As far as I know, Peltor already has this multi set technology. We use those in our arboricultural training. I'll try to find some more info.

Thats a radio set on the 400meg band. Many people make them and they all do multi set.

It's not bluetooth.
