Best log splitter to buy

Recommended Posts

I am looking for some info and recomendations into which log-splitter to purchase.

I curently use an axe, but as the demand for logs in my village has increased I have decided to buy myself a log-splitter.

I do not have a Tractor or hydrolics so im needing the kind with an engine of some description.

A road towable one would be most beneficial.

I look forward to your suggestions...

Hi mate I have a Balfor 16 ton tow behind with the Honda engine. And it is awesome! There is not a log I have found that the "log dog" can't split, dead, green twisted, knarly, blah blah blah it doesn't matter. Got it from apine tractors

Why not run a hydraulic one off your mog? You could move it around to jobs too.

I used to use one of mog and while it would make sense if it has hydraulic takeoffs its a big engine to be running just to power a splitter, you'l end up clocking up loads of hours, maybe somthing to consider as it will obviously effect resale value of the mog when a small honda engine will do the same job.

If it was me I would look at the sacktruck style ones running of a honda engine like the ones riko do.
