Glendale activities include; grounds management, countryside management, landscaping, horticulture and golf course management.

 

Woodlands & Estates Chargehand/Lead Chargehand – BRISTOL

Salary – £15,500 - £17,000

 

20 days annual leave (rising to 22 with service), sick pay, pension, PPE, uniform and training.

 

Based at our Bristol office, covering Bristol, North Somerset and the wider Avon area. You will be responsible for the day to day implementation of all countryside work undertaken from the office, which includes a wide range of work and activities from tree planting, fencing, scrub control, herbicide application, grass cutting, habitat management, woodland work, and ongoing contracts for a variety of clients. The role requires meeting and laising with customers on a daily basis, and so good organisational and personal skills are essential. You will lead and oversee all works.

 

The ideal candidate will have practical knowledge and skills in woodland, countryside or land management to NVQ level as a minimum.

 

A full UK driver license and a flexible approach to working is essential.

You will need to be flexible, reliable and have a thorough, proven knowledge of all aspects of leading teams, holding the requisite NPTC Certificates (CS30,31 essential), PA1 & PA6 and a clean driving licence, preferably a full pre 1997 or subsequent trailer test award licence.

 

The candidate will ensure H&S, ISO9001 & ISO14001 compliance of the team on-site. Thanks for the comment. The responsibilities are no greater than you would expect from any member of staff i.e. turn up for work ontime, do a good job safely and be polite to clients, coupled with practical knowledge of the sector. The role is running a team of 2 staff. More than happy to negotiate with the right candidate.

Why not just start off with reasonable pay. its a pain to have to negotiate something which you should be getting. Not something id feel comfortable doing when just starting to talk to a prospective employer, you will probably get someone happy to work on that money who can do the job well but good luck keeping him/her

I bet there are quite a few people on here running their own companies who realistically earn less than that a year (but would never admit it), AND they don't get holiday pay/pension/sick pay etc etc. That is a position within a big company and the right person can use that job as a starting block to bigger things if they so wish - if people get shot down for offering others opportunities then there is something very wrong with this 'community'.

well said, it is a low wage though, but in the current market and the potential to work hard and progress makes the job worth the starting salary:thumbup1:
