Thanks for the mixed bag of comments guys. I appreciate it. It clearly seems like a TOUCHY subject to some and there will be many people like me who want to understand the ins and outs of business insurance ( they dont teach us that in general certs or even things like the RFS ).

Any way I imagen most of you out there have done a job at some point or another without relevant insurance. But hopefully I will have something sorted soon.

Merry christmas :001_tongue:

Are you looking for employer's liability or just public liability?

If you have anyone working with you, even if its just a mate for cash, you should have EL. The combined insurances will probably cost around £800. Bryant Kesek and the NFU would be my recommendation, as Trust have a minimum premium of £1200.

Your other option would be to team up with a local company who have insurance, and a truck and chipper.

Never have!! Never will!!

You are leaving yourself wide open, if some Muppet comes into your work site and trips over a branch, they could sue you!!

Why did you even bother doing your tickets if you arent going to get insurance. Look at it this way. If an un insured driver smashed into your car or family would that be ok?

It was the first thing i did. I passed the work i got onto the local contractor and he gave me work until i was up and running. We have worked in the same town for ten years and get on great. Start as you mean to go on.

It could be worse than that.

The HSE has already made it clear that they are prepared to go with corporate manslaughter so if someone gets hurt or god forbid killed you could find yourself in jail.

Insurance is something you would rather have and not need then need and not have.
