tried my new ms 201 t last week. it feels weak and the acceleration is pretty slow. am I the only one who dislike this saw ?

and can it be adjusted so it works better?

 

the old ms 200 t is the best climbing saw ever made ! :-)

Yeah, they are slow on pickup and don't rev as hard as the old 200t.

 

I compaired my 200t to a 201t on wednesday.... 200t revved a lot higher and harder and pick up was better :)

mines say 6 months old and side by side with a 200t it sounds quieter and not as zippy, but cutting the same size log its just as quick if no

t quicker, think its a bit more torkey,:thumbup1:

 

i think the avs are are good so it doesnt feel as rapid as the 200t but seems to cut the same,

 

dont know if this helps lol

No my 201t looses so much power when cutting.. I had trouble from the word go because my spring kept falling off inside the the handle and kept blocking the choke so I couldn't actually get it started!! The only thing I think they r good for is how long a tank of fuel lasts!

Mines been great from the word go!!!

 

The new chain is more aggressive, so you need to take care when cutting bigger timber or it will bog down and the clutch will slip, but I was using the new chain for a fair while before the 201 came out.

 

I much prefer the new saw, better balance, better handle, stronger brake handle, rounder backend, better filter cover, better off switch, better AV, better fuel economy and better plastics over the exhaust.

To improve acceleration, richen up the low mixture ("L" screw, counterclockwise about 1/4 turn). You'd have to compensate by increasing the the idle speed at the same time (LA screw, clockwise).

 

I believe the mixture is factory-preset very lean to reduce emission levels.

From what I have seen, heard and have cobbled together the top end needs richening and the bottom end leaning out.

 

This can only be done by removing the limiter caps on the H needle.

 

I 'presume' some dealers are doing the above (or something like it)and thats why some saws run fine and some dont.

 

Or its a bad batch of cheap carbs and the luck of the draw.

If you "lean out" the bottom end (L), the acceleration will get slower (worse).

 

Where did you get your info from?

 

To quote the official Stihl Carburetors Manual, troubleshooting chart:

 

  Quote

Condition: Poor acceleration

 

Cause:

1. Idle jet "too lean"

2. Main jet "too lean"
