Chickens?

We have chickens mainly cream legbar x black rock but we get fantastic blue -green eggs from them and we have a few welsummers and some more hybrid breeds plus a few cream legbar cockerels ,I used to keep loads of different breeds from orpingtons to rare breeds like pheasant fowl but numbered down a lot to just a few now I sell the eggs off the door as it pays for their keep then and we get fresh eggs as a result :)good luck with making the house hope the hens like it

We have 6 at the bottom of the garden, they are quality to watch and the kids love them. Getting an egg a day off each at the moment.

 

We have 3 road island reds a buff orpington a plymouth bared rock and a light sussex

Had my 4 hybrids just over a month now, getting 4 eggs a day at the moment

and haven't even fed a fox yet.

We've just gotten four chooks from a guy who was moving down country. 3 young Bantams and a big red (no idea what it is). Only one laying at the moment as the other 3 are too young. One of the young bantams has taken to crowing like a cockerel even though it's a female so might find itself as dinner pretty soon.

we have rescue hens and a welsomer cockeral get 5to7 eggs a day there free range now.I think they are great fun to be arround

We got six hens a couple of weeks ago, sharing them with our neighbours. This splits costs and, more importantly, chores. They're still too young to lay but hopefully there'll be enough eggs to share out. Got the coop free too.

 

Breeds are: 2x speckeldy, 2x Light sussex star, 1 neras and a bluebell. I could watch them all day!

Update: wife's just been offered half a dozen laying quail. Any advice on these gratefully received.
