Hi everyone. trying to change blades on our timberwolf 150 but have got two star nuts that just will not budge. Have tried all sorts including heating them, impact driver, hitting them etc but no joy and have to say they are now pretty mashed up. So just wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem or knows of any solutions. any help much appreciated. Rich

Drill them out until you can pull the blade off then get mole grips on? Or weld a bolt on to it? Just thoughts, I always re lube mine before putting them back in. And always clean the star out before putting the bit in.

Hi mate, you will need a torque wrench to get them off and to re-tighten them

Good luck!

A torque wrench is no real help getting them off, its no different to any other socket wrench. Good for getting them to the correct tension when fitting though.

As hodge said, drill the heads off, remove the blade, place a suitable sized nut on the remaining part of the stud and weld the two together. Wait till cooled down be fore trying to unscrew as the heat from welding will cause the stud to expand in the hole.
