I got info from, safety at street works and road works, a code of practice. ISBN 978-0-11-551958-1, £7.50. I think it was called the purple book, the blue book is every thing, sign specs, road marking, etc, ifirc.

sorry if this confuses things - I believe all the chapter 8 regs have changed from april this year - but i havent looked any further into this yet
