A memento is one thing, stealing the family jewllery and precious memorabilia is totally different. I'd be down the cop-shop sharpish with a list of the stolen items.

Problem was she gave them permission to " help themselves " no chance of conviction....

Kicking myself for not getting locksmith in on day 1 .....

Cannot list stuff, it's more " didn't my mum have one of those" ........and where has that gone?

Scummy way of making a living though

Undertaker told me his father had been taken for £35,000

This is apparently now a serious problem with old people living longer, and getting forgetful and doddery ....

Worse problem was my mums cleaner and my ex sister in law, my mum had said get a momento from the house......

It was like they'd burgled it, they literally took carloads away....including my mums engagement ring, antique jewellery, silver ornaments ......right down to my grandads medal for going into a burning colliery.

Seen this type of thing before. Also seen a family end up in court arguing of inheritance. The greed of some people make me sick.

I'd prefer my dad to blow his cash on gambling and hookers.........i'll do my best to encourage him when we go to Las Vegas later in the year :)

A memento is something to remember someone by and NOT a way to make money. If the intention is to make a profit from the things removed from your mother's house, then those things weren't mementos. It was house clearance by cheapskates. I'm sure your mother didn't mean for all her valueables to be stolen. And let's face it, it is a case of theft. A picture of them together, a favoured teapot ok. But how can her engagement ring, antique jewellery, silver ornaments or your grandad's bravery medal be mementos? That's straight out theft.
