The Amazing Shard!

Took these photos yesterday.For Months i,ve watched the crane climb up the side..and now the Shard has become the tallest building in Europe...The job of "Jumping" the tower crane is considered to be the most dangerous job in construction. The crane opperator said he never tired of the view. it is HUGE.

Impressive as it is, I can't help feeling it's just another ego massager for well funded blue chip companies to move from the previous high status address they currently occupy to this one-thus leaving other previous developments empty or at least in gradual decline.

 

These status bulidings never, ever attract new business- just fickle current businesses moving on.

I'd like to think as an arborist I'm (were all) not afraid of working at height ... but imagine turning up on site for that :001_huh: ...yehhhhhh I'll go up in 5mins ... just another few mins ... any second now ... actually I'm not sure I feel well enough, slight head ache :001_tt2::laugh1:
