Took these photos yesterday. For Months i,ve watched the crane climb up the side..and now the Shard has become the tallest building in Europe...The job of "Jumping" the tower crane is considered to be the most dangerous job in construction. The crane opperator said he never tired of the view. it is HUGE.

Great shots :thumbup1:

Have been watching it from afar (Hampstead) since it came into sight.

Its certainly a fantastic piece of Architecture, but from our view it shadows over St Pauls in a not so good way

I see your Point David but i do think that once people get used to it it will blend in well to the Skyline and even compliment the buildings around it...The old and the New can work well together.

Someone will happily do it...you see rope access teams on Bridges and high buildings everywhere in Central London..Saw a cool picture of three men right at the top of the Shard working...that,s almost 77 floors up!

Impressive as it is, I can't help feeling it's just another ego massager for well funded blue chip companies to move from the previous high status address they currently occupy to this one-thus leaving other previous developments empty or at least in gradual decline.

These status bulidings never, ever attract new business- just fickle current businesses moving on.

Workers at the top of the shard

I'd like to think as an arborist I'm (were all) not afraid of working at height ... but imagine turning up on site for that :001_huh: ...yehhhhhh I'll go up in 5mins ... just another few mins ... any second now ... actually I'm not sure I feel well enough, slight head ache :001_tt2::laugh1:
