Either

(i)Cut to 1.0m length, then split and then run through saw to length, then up conveyor and into vented bulk bags at £6.00 odd each, double stack on pallets outside covered by a tarpaulin, then bring in at the back end to store & use.

Pro=Sawdust & mess is all kept outside.

Con=But bags are pricey.

Or

(ii) Cut to 1.0m length, then split and bundle into a 1.0m dia round secured by Polyproplene strapping, with two straps (i'm guessing)

Then handle/stack with forklift/round bale handler type att, cover with tarp, move under cover at the back-end, unbundle and run through same saw and conveyor into bulk storage, or bag for onward sale (as i'm starting to accumulate surplus stock)

Pro=Strapping is cheaper than bulk bags

Con=But sawdust & mess inside/under cover.

as i said

Hmmmmm

PS

Did I mention that I am always looking for the "perfect" :biggrin:solution.

I would be interested in the bags ability to stand UV rays from the sun. The ones I have from Bag Supplies says something along the lines of keep out of direct sunlight.

Was thinking about seasoning some of mine outside this summer.

cut into rings and straight into vertical splitter 10" logs thrown into 1.5 cubic metre vented bag. Bags last a few years and can be reused have tipping loop on bottom.

Cept I am awaiting imminent delivery of a 1100m splitter + saw + conveyor belt

So No rings:001_tt2:

Plus should soon be dry enough to let me into the Moss this year.

Happy days.:thumbup1:

PS

Where do you get the 1.5m3 bags?

Biggest I found were quoted at 1.0m3, some were some wernt

I started oot in Dundee, luking for a bargain:lol:

But probably do biz with your link as above Muldonach, about 1/3 cheaper.

No idea regarding the expected life/uses of one specification agean the other, but for sure try the cheap one furst.

Why do I lapse into bastard Ulster Scots:blushing:

Do I feel a grant cumming on or sommat:001_rolleyes:

Your optimum method is going to be different to mine, 8 inch rings and vertical splitter with vented cube bags works best for me and the arb waste i have to process.

Straight cordwood would be a different matter.

Which ever way you do it its hard work :biggrin: I did not have a saw bench with conveyor so cant comment on efficency. The billet idea is brilliant for getting the work done early and wood seasons superbly and allows the logs to be cut exactly to the customers requirements. We had to move 24" timber 4ft long onto a vertical splitter I caught my finger against the wedge once to often dummy flew out and so did the chainsaw not done billets since. A horizontal splitter with log lift would be a better method. followed by saw bench. Its satisfying making long rows of billets and with new toys to play with even better. :thumbup1:

This works pretty well, I tried billets and circular saw but so much double handling it drove me nuts.

This way i collect/stack it once, pick it up, into processor into bag, skidsteer onto pallets and then into the barn. done!
