The spec was to make safe. I thought it would be an ideal tree to mix and match and have a play :biggrin: hopefully promote more of this kind of work at there sites.

No mewp, no winches on the fractures just the weight of the branch therfore reducing the risk of pulling the tree over:thumbup1:

Dead roadside Beech with Meripilus & Chondrostereum.

 

Left as Standing dead timber, coro'd with the odd fracture.

On to the data base to be inspected anually.

 

Mix of remarks from the locals, and the odd funny from passing cabbies.

I'm just thinking of the location. Personaly I'm all for it, but I can only imagine the phone calls the LA switch board lady will be taking on that one.

David, does this particular LA have a policy regarding retention of standing deadwood as part of their Biodiversity action plan...or something similar?
