Looking for a leaf blower!! advice

backpack blower all the way! i have a battered old br420 that still goes well, and does a good job too, can happily lift moss off flags!

 

the br600 is even better again but well worth the money, dont own one but have used one, it is a job trying to keep it pointing straight!

I have stihl blowers backpack and hand held and honestly my advice is get a cheapy, it's only a blower nothing complex, under no real strain, you pay for the name.

Obviously chainsaws are a different kettle of fish.

They just make tidying up easy after a job, especially when its wet sawdust is a bitch to clean up. And blowing the occasional leaf lol.

I've had a ryobi handheld blower that I've had for 6 years and used daily for 4 years now, I've never changed the spark plug, needed to fix anything, alter anything, tighten anything, it's been dropped, rained on for days, had logs dropped on it, and generally abused horridly, and it still starts first pull every single time. Possibly the best £95 I ever spent.

I never got round to it, but it had a 1 year commercial and 2 year domestic guarantee, the shop i brought it from told me to break it and bring it back after 11 months..

I brought a secondhand Komatsu Zenoah backpack on ebay for £150, seems equivilant to the BR600 in terms of size. Lovely machine, only problem was finding a throttle cable when it snapped but found a company on the Isle of Wight which does parts.

 

I'd look for a secondhand backpack, biggest you can get IMO. There seem to be a lot of decent secondhand ones about for £150-200, I can't imagine blowers really get abused in the same way as saws etc...
