I,ve just taken delivery of 150 bare root taxus that came in a pallet, they

Looked very dry.

I,ve stuck them in big tubs of water with the intention of leaving them over night and planting in the morning.

They should be ok over night with the roots completely submerged shouldn't they ?

I don't know what it is but I have a soft spot for yew, I,ve managed to persuade two customers this week to replace their hedge with yew instead of beech.

I will allow my hedge to swallow up the barbed wire fencing along its length, it will just put a smile on my face should anyone try the new craze of hedge jumping

Evergreen, can drive a car through it and it will recover more often than not, even if you saw it to the floor to resucker. I like beech but Its timid by comparision.Beech hates being disturbed.

Yew also gives stray livestock bad guts at the very least!!:blushing: Whereas broadleaved stuff you did a hole in hedge with no sense of justice.

Good move Dean and looks good, I always think people scrimp with the usual boring hawthorn cheap solution which ticks the native box. But is not always best for most situations and looks naff.

If the odd one dies the neighbouring plants will meet up to cover the absentee.
