I would suggest if you are just going up for the odd hung up branch then you should consider moving to srt. Throw bag up as high as you can fix rope to base of tree and climb up the free end. Once your where you need to be, get the branch off and straight back down. Simple, easy and quick.

David , what knot or device do you use at the base of the tree for srt ?

I just tie a bowline choked onto the base. But I just use srt to gain access to the crown in big trees. If I was using it as a working line then I would think of maybe using something so it can be used also as a rescue method, I have seen so many different ways to do this I suppose it can be quite difficult to chose just 1 but the easiest I saw so far was a grigri used at the bottom attached to the base with an adjustable length of rope.

Thats how we rig up silos to rescue, a couple of stops at the top, one on each line so someone can be lowered out / hauled up. thats a derail though.

dont suppose someone has a pic of pulley on cambium saver? sounds smooth.. also does it still retrieve?

Dont have a pic but its just a micro pulley attached to the small ring of the cambium saver with a crab. It's retrievable as long as your retrieval ball goes through the big ring and not the pulley. I have however had problems with the big ring twisting slightly and not sitting against the pulley correctly, this sometimes makes more friction than is comfy but it can be quickly sorted with a good shake of the rope to get the ring to sit right again. Anyone else found this?
