What hours do you expect your staff to work for a days money? Office hours are traditionally accepted as being 9 to 5pm, the warehouse I used to work in the hours were 7.30am -3.30pm.

Hard one

To my way of thinking it is imposible to put times on a day basis. If am an hr of finishing a job and my groundy pisses off he would not be back the next day. On the other hand if we are finished I would be happy for him to go early while I do some paperwork (piss about on arbtalk ).

Im only pt at the moment so it is easier for me. If I was to employ someone full time I would ask them to work flexible hrs (within reason) up to 40 hrs/week with a specified start time, thereafter mutually agreed o/t.

my day as a subbie is 7.30 to 4.00 but i can finish later. upto 5.30 on a bad day.

Someone who works on a day rate is always gonna do the maths in their head about what they are on an hour, so if you give someone £50 cash and they only do 5 hours one day they will be on £10 pph, they will be so thrilled at this vast amount that they wont notice the rest of the week doing ten hour slogs for £5 pound an hour, haha. I guess its swings and roundabouts because of jobs differing. You cant start at 8 and finish at 4 in this job.

I aim for 6-30 -7am starts finnishing between 2pm and 3.30pm. but I offer a little extra cash for the early start. I work in fairly remote area's where early morning noise isn't an issue.

i tend to start work on site 9am leave between 3and5pm would pay more after 5pm unless we have been slack and drunk tea all day

a fair days work for a fair days pay rather than per hour is my main aim

Place I've been mostly working at for the past 4 years, we start at 7.30 and allegedly finish at 16.30 but its more like 17.30. There's an hour off in there somewhere for lunch.
