Got the Ripeur 2 gloves delivered today and took them out for a drive.... I turned the colour from "sand" to "mud".

First thing that surprised me was that they don't feel as bulky as i thought they might be.

The stitching looks good.

Kevlar stitching

Comfy lining.

I've only used them for an afternoon pulling and moving chunky bramble, and also tested by pulling a couple of gnarly blackthorn out of the ground (with spikey thorny bits, roots n all).

Not ANY sign of anything getting through at all. Overall, so far, I'm very, very impressed. Will they last?.... that remains to be seen!

They last ok, but nothing lasts forever... If they were twice the price they'd still be cheaper than welding gloves in the long run.

Not sure if they're supposed to be waterproof, but so far the inside seems to be dry.

They're not waterproof but will hold out some water. If you se them for a day in the rain they'll be wet though.

Am i supposed to wash the dirt off with water? ....Or some kind of soapy solution followed by leather protection?

You're not supposed to wash them with anything ever! What are you, one of them shiny kit-freaks or are you a man not afraid of work?:001_tt2:

Mr Bolam: you cannot feel the steel threads at all, and I've never found them to be too cold.:001_smile:

What size did you go for Steve?

Hi Mark, I went for medium/ size 8 but I have little hands. They fit quite snug on me so if you have bigger hands i suggest go for a bigger size ;)

To be honest i dont understand hand sizes or glove sizes!

Me neither mate.

I've got big hands for an office worker but small hands for a farmer!

Sounds like you should go for a large size, which probably equates to a medium size in real life term.

So....

For Ripeur 2 gloves it appears medium is the smallest size they do; so by my estimations:

- medium equals small

- large equals medium

- and extra large equals large

Do you share these hands with the office worker and farmer or does hand size alter with job designation. Will my hands grow if I go t work on a farm ? :confused1:

Biggest hands I ever saw were on a fitter in a factory I worked in. He put a greasy hand mark on the fitting shop door and it was just under a foot from the thumb tip to little finger tip.

That's a big hand!

Farmers have big hands Geoff, that's a fact. You may have left it a bit late to grow yours mind!

I was lucky enough to ask Penny this from A&F warehouse, Now gone and sadly missed by us all. She sold me the last few winching gauntlet sets she had. 10 pairs Fantastic never let a thorn through yet. I'm not sure you can get them now. I'll try and remember a picture next time I'm up the yard. Oh sorry I do not have any spare so please don't ask as refusal sometimes offends.

But I thought I might steer you in a general direction!
