Advice needed

2 years ago i put in a privet hedge for a regular client of mine who recently rang me up to say she was not happy with it i went and had a look and all the base leaves were dropping off and the area was covered in weeds.

I told my client that the leaves dropped due to lack of water and the weeds at the base of the hedge had to be cleared.

I also did a scratch test at the base of the privet to check for green wood which there was to make sure they were alive.only today she rang me up saying shes not happy and wants to claim on my insurance for a new hedge.

I told her i would as a goodwill gesture i would come round and clear the weeds and do a scratch test on all the shrubs and replace free of charge any privet that had died to be told no not good enough.now i dont want to tell her to poke it as this would be unproffesional and she knows alot of my other clients and she would make it known to them what had happened.

I know the work was done 2 years ago but i dont need her bringing my name down as would be bad for business.

I can't imagine the insurance company stumping up the bill for that anyway to be honest! I may be wrong though?

ask her for a list of work she has done to maintain the hedge since u planted it........a right chancer

refer the client to the suplier of the plants see what they say ! did you guarrantee the plants ?

There is no "legally" she wont call the police!

 

Surely you dont have insurance that covers a hedge for two years?

 

Just tell her you not insured (or that it only applies for 12months) and then leave her to it. Let her tell other people what she wants, no one will sympathise with her if she tells the truth and if she lies, well no amount of insruance can stop that.

I doubt very much that the insurance will pay . She then might try going for you maybe in the small clams if she really wants to be plan stupid

 

She will most lightly loose big style you did your part of the agreed work you put in the hedge and it was live when you put it in . Open and shut case she paid for a live hedge to be put in and your expertees and your time to do it .she paid the bill on completion of the work

 

Some places garentee a tree for a year if they plant it for you and if it fails they will replace it .you have gone over and above your duty in offering 2 years later to replace the dead parts .

 

Don't get hood winked into giving any money back
