Cut stump flat, groove round stump just in side cambean, use SBK, cover with plastic to stop rain or pets getting to it.100% result

 

or cut a slice of to start with, then grove round the stump, aplie the sbk and then nail the slivver you cut of over the top as a cap

i need some stump killer for some stumps i cant get the grinder to, ive never bought stump killer before what should i use? ive got my spray ticket so i dont want no watered down garden centre rubbish! what do you use? thanks.

We use Vigilant, stump cutter and a few others. Failing that, diesel/sump oil mix but it's not exactly green.

I have always used glysophate at 20% just sprayed onto the stump, no holes or cuts.

 

Never had one call back.

I've had good success with using thick black plastic alone, with a good overlap, without any chemicals. Prevents regrowth by blocking out light.

Glyphosate alone on sycamore stumps has not prevented new growth appearing.

Be careful here as AS has been withdrawn for use as a herbicide application, i.e. stump treatment, although it can still be used as a compost accelerator, or similar, I believe...hmmm!

 

ALSO remember if you are aplying any herbicide as a stump tretament then you are bound by the Pesticide Regs requiring stock controls records, usage records, correct storage in labelled pesticide store, qualifications to apply (PA1 & PA6) and probably lots more.

 

Hence we often recommend to small business contractors who don't do large scale applictaions to simply prepare the stump and then tell the owner to go to their local supplier, garden centres / DIYs etc., and purchase and apply a proprietary product themselves...problem solved.

Very good but expensive, £100 for 1 1/2 Ltr if i remember rightly.
