Macrocarpa abuse.

Some pics of a mac we took down this week. Very small drop zone. Not the biggest tree in the world- about 5' DBH and about 60' tall with a nice lean. It had been topped (NOT by me) in the past, but was basically on borrowed time. They are a very prevalent tree down here, but have a habit of giving up their hold as they are shallow rooted. This was situated over a very well used public path and a neighbouring property, so after much deliberation it was decided to remove.

Thanks to BigT for his help, and to my superb groundy Chris who i wouldnt be without. :thumbup1:

Looks like you had your work cut out there, those are some mighty big big lumps.

Some big lumps and a fairly fragile looking pergola underneath! We were lucky enough to be able to extend the 3' wide working area below the tree by making a makeshift deck on the pergola next to us. The garden was very steep on various levels.
