Thanks buzz thanks for letting me know about wat has been done and that. will keep your number handy for any help, and thanks guys but stop winding me up about the probs lol haha.

also the front linkage i put money towards the roof box. i know it would off been handy seeing the way you had that big trailer on the back for the big take downs but i will see wat happens i can always get another linkage!

Looks like Legs to me MB.

 

 

So do they hand crank down? Why aren't they needed when going down the road? If the chipper doesn't need them for that, why would they need them when chipping?

 

I've always wondered about that unusual set-up. Has anyone ever took off driving when the legs were still down?

The legs are to support the chipper Butch, you can lift them, lock off the chipper on the hydrulics and tow a small evenly balanced trailer off the back of the chipper as a chip bin.....

The legs should be lifted when on / off road they just slide down with a lynch pin through a hole. Gives better clearance when on rough ground. It's just a feature of that particular chipper. It enables you to travel with the chipper in a locked off ready to chip postion.

Oh and the chipper lifts up and down on the 3 point linkage as well, I have driven off many a time with the chipper still down, ripped the back leg off once and had to weld a new bracket on.

Has a chipper ever broken completely off the truck while going down the road?

 

The chipper is held on a Ferguson type 3 point linkage just like nearly every tractor in the world.

 

A unimog is a chimera, neither tractor nor truck.

 

Chippers can fall off the linkage and the linkage can break but if it happens it’s usually operator error or abuse.
