Felling trees into really tight spots to avoid having to dismantle them

When working over walls or fences take the end of the branch then as you work your way back in, chunking it off, as you cut through flick the log away from the target with the bar of the saw.

 

When swinging large branches in that are too heavy to hold, cut a very open gob, start top cut, as it starts to go hold it to stop the hinge breaking before it swung as far as you want.

 

When chunking off large laterals over a target, huck your foot under the chunk as you cut it off, kick it away from the target.

over roofs-hold, slowly cut to gently rest on roof, sever, lift off roof

 

on SMALL bits I.E tip end reduction, with no free drop zone (flower beds?!), lower off your harness:ohmy:

 

when felling/using felling cuts, turn the wood/branch by cutting one side of the hinge more than the other

When chunking down a stem with a big saw, position you strop low enough for you to take of two slabs, cut the first slab then begin the next cut, apply chain break and leave the saw in the cut while you throw the cut slab and move down the stem, so you don't have the saw trying to pull your harness down.

When chunking straight, upright stems down in longer lengths, (8feet plus), cut the sink to between 50 and 70% of the stem diameter. Make the backcut and watch the piece fall over unaided.

use eletrical tape instead of shrink wrap for cobra bracing
