Wind blown - 75-80 ft odd Beech. Root plated had all but completely rotted away - very lucky that this tree fell where it did. Any other way and it would have hit one of the surrounding properties, and as it came down in the early hours it would very likely have crushed the occupants in their beds!

Yep that's a HC! The bark is the orange/brown that's characteristic and the correct thickness on the branches.

 

Certainly ain't no beech. If it is then the literature has some 'splainin to do!

That would have been a hairy stuntfell between the concrete posts.

 

Is it just me, or do most windblows tend to fall 'luckily' and not do the damage they might have? Obviously some are catastrophic, but I see them again and again where I think - lucky it fell where it did or....
