Is poplar really that bad of a firewood?

Does it varie through black, lomberdy, grey and aspen...

Brought some back to the yard yesterday and today and just wondered weather to process it and split in and put it on my pile or give it away?

any opinions valued, cheers

I try and keep pop (and willow) out of the logs for sale (tired of trying to fight the myths) and keep it for myself.

As people have said so many times before, all dry wood will burn, and I am more than happy to use it all up myself and get a quiet life when making deliveries.

Hi I have some pop , nice strait bits about 6 to 8 in dia . so one slit and its done . well seasoned . Never burnt it before but have heard its no good for open fires as it spits . anyone confirm that ? If it does I will put it with my eucaliptus and cherry and keep it for stoves only .
