£75 minimun charge to cover 1 hrs work if its just me. £150 for 1hr if there is two of us. The way i've learnt is small jobs your generally up against the gardeners who charge £7.50 per hour. Well at least i normally am. Heres todays example; I arrive to view the job a magnolia to be removed and dig the stump out, 4 ft hight and a spade will easily lift it out. I was thinking of bagging it up and putting it in my parents garden. £75 i said. She hit the roof! My gardener said £20 i said well i cannot compete with that price as my running costs are much higher than his obviously.

£75 is taking the piss for a job that small. I'd have said £30 and had one of my lads pop round there on the way home. £20 in my pocket, easy. Bet I'd have sold her a tenners worth of mulch or some logs whilst I was there too.

I keep costs down by only working (though multiple trades) within seven miles of base. That way there's almost always something else for a crew to do just down the road from the days job. Works for me, and keeps me sane. Don't need the hassle and cost of travelling. :thumbup1:

I guess my running costs are higher than yours:001_tt2: I work further a field than 7 miles theres not enough work to keep me going in that small radius. (a lot of companies you see). Personally i dont think its taking the P im not a charity and don't work for free, i want to make profit. :thumbup1:

If i did it for £30 i would only make £2 profit! £25ph + £3 fuel costs to run too and from site £5 wear and tear on the job (the spade might break or i lose a pin from the tailgate). So £2 profit or £42 profit :confused1:

Just my break down in costs for you. xx

Plus you'd still of lost out to the gardener he was £20
