I have never used one of those but if its good enough for Rob and people with alaskan mills use it must be good. Milling must be one of the hardest uses of saw chain. At £50 its not a once in a life time investment either.

It is not as quick as the fancy bench ones, but when one is in the woods and some hidden barb decides to wreck ones chain. One can resharpen in under five minutes. Win win

The 12 volt grinders I find great but not everyone gets on with them....

I have done a couple more vids here [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aT5shPjj-i8&list=UU9K0KfLNH84tuWi2VjlSlCg&index=5&feature=plcp]Chainsawbars presents Granberg 12volt precision ginder - G1012XT - YouTube[/ame] this is the precision one. It's fiddly to start with but great for big bars still in the mill as you can sharpen accurately from one side.

Or this free hand version [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K11rAKksX98&feature=BFa&list=UU9K0KfLNH84tuWi2VjlSlCg&lf=plcp]Chainsawbars presents Granberg 12volt ginder - Grind and Joint G721 - YouTube[/ame] is the fastest way you can sharpen a chain on the bar but doesn't have the same accuracy.

my opinion is electric when u really balls the teeth up.......nice bit of steel or stone, then get the ellecy out and even it all up good. Otherwise its a hand file, i find i get much sharper nicely shaped tooth with a hand file. Its £100 of oregon on bar ellecy system, but i find it just doesn't give such a nice shaped tooth, and time u've set it up on the bar u could have a few teeth done!!!

Each to their own, but owning a 48" bar for the 880, hand sharpening isn't a 5min job either way.:thumbup:

It's £48-00 + vat and £4-00 per pack of 3 grinding stones.

Just go here Chainsawbars ? bars, chains and chainsaw accessories and register and I'll set the discount.

They do give as good an edge as a round file and as good a shape without bluing the tooth. But like everything the more you use it the better the results.

Thank you rob. Sharpener turned up yesterday and been playing today. Excellent tool just wish id bought one ages ago. If you run big bars or have yards and yards of chain to sharpen I cannot recommend it enough. The only useful improvement I can think of would be a 240 volt adapter for workshop use for if you havent got an old car battery to hand.

Many thanks.
