Maybe, but up here in soft wood country birch is hardwood and sold apart from soft wood.

 

We don't have handy beech thinnings or Hornbeam coppice.

 

We don't have many beech or hornbeam here either we bus it in from down south last time I bought beech locally would be 5 years ago.

3m softwood pricing is actually consistent up here, simply relates to how far from the chip and pulp producers in central belt you're located

 

Edit: I do think hardwood prices may come down a bit.. Though we don't have many sources of decent processor grade here

Yes, roundwood prices appears to be regionally influenced i.e. depends where you are located in the UK.

low grade firewood for £90.00 a cube

£90 would be pricey for high grade hardwood here; would be lucky to get £65/cube for hard soft mix south of exeter. Then you've got RPA selling 2m3 hardwood for £50 just up the road, hence why we've quit apart from old regulars.

Two cube for £50 nicker wow i feel for you thats a road to no where.

 

Unless we have a cold winter its going to thin a few merchants out up here those paying £70 a ton for perfect roundwood are not going to last.
