Cheers Dak, yeap two lengths through same needle, like Drew said its poly core. Looks good but doesn't last, the poly core AP (its red) would last and prob look pretty good with your orange tachyon

I have NEVER seen stiching that tidy! awesome, a lot of effort went into that:thumbup1:

Cheers Hamadryad, there not bad, but still not perfect!

Re. Splicing tachyon. What's the best advice on how to treat the purple core centre strands, are they in anyway related to rope strength or is it just a profile thing as mentioned earlier?

Got 5M to splice up for a new lanyard this weekend and it's my first go at tachyon so all answers on postcards or otherwise welcomed :)

For A 5m lanyard I'd just remove the purple strands completely. Leaving them in isn't tht much of a bother and good to practice leaving them in. But as above, not necessary on a 5m bit of rope.

Yep. Just follow the tachyon instructions and disregard the purple strands bit. I've got a10m base anchor made with the purple strand removed and really noticeable how different and soft it feels compared to having the purple strands left inside. Also milks a lot more with them removed.

any tips on the best way to remove the purple core? i dont want to pull it and it bring the white core strands along with it as well as that would really put a spanner in the works or will it pull quite freely once ive done the initial core extraction.
