Hey. Sorry if I'm being a bit niave. But can you explain this to the new girl?

I'm guessing it's to make it seem more like a natural break?

Looks like it could snap shut on some poor creature should the splinters holding the peice wedging open the crack give way??

 

I have stuck a nice solid piece of wood in opened up cracks to make sure this doesn't happen, don't want some poor bat squished all of a sudden

Good point Dean, however that shots pretty decieving as the top and bottom of the fracture are completely apart and delaminated.
