Conscious of your image?

Ever since I started this job, I've wondered why many arbies think its cool to wander around on site, in the supermarket, and even the local pub, with chainsaw trousers so tattered and torn that they can barely keep their balls from falling out! Is this the kind of image you wish to show the general public, esp when they are proudly wearing your corporate logo? Ok so many might say that they are work clothes, so what does it matter anyway, and they are expensive to replace regularly, but what price your business name, or doesnt it matter in the grand scheme of things?

I know when my trousers get that bad they are in the bin,any major rip or if they get to the point that after a wash they still look like you were rolling around on the ground for half a day they are in the bin.

Its not that hard to look abit clean,you dont have to look like a person that just walked out of an office,i just dont want half the town seeing my balls:scared1:

ive gone the whole hog, and have now taken to wearing a cowboy hat....

What makes me laugh is companies who have travelled along way to a show and most of the staff are all wearing chainsaw trousers in the middle of summer etc...muppets.

Yeah ha!! ride em cowboy. Seriously though, theres no need to look like a bag o shite just cos you do a dirty job.I think it would also put customers off.

i try to look as professional and smart as possible, turning up for a days subbying and looking a mess doesnt get things off on the right foot

Pragmatically, it only matters in the great scheme of things if its a health and safety risk. Everything else is an irrational fear of the untidy; common amongst doormen and aunties. Not to be pandered to. IMO. obviously.

The chainsaw trouser problem at shows is worse, as it indicates people are behaving based on habit rather than decision making ability. Anyone wearing them when it's not necessary (whatever that means) is quite obviously a moron. And i mean that without insult. I mean the dictionary definition.NIMO

my trousers have a few minor rips in them, around the ankles. I'd say they look used not smart but not too scruffy. One of the guys at work keeps getting told to wash (himself and his clothes) maybe we should tell him he isn't coming on domestic jobs until he smells better.
