You want to limit the power of a 200t? seriously? some people will only be happy when they are banned. Well I have a message for all the hi viz wearing euronits, I will give you my 200t....... when you come and take it out of my cold dead hands. (with apologies to Charlton Heston)

Youve totally misread what i said. From an engineering point of view power to weight and the fulcrum point of a top handle saw , there simply must come a point surely when a safety margin is breached. Thats all i was suggesting.

A diy -er ( or pro ) not recognising this fact is in danger. :001_smile:

Top handle saws are for pro use ONLY, so any DIY er using one has acquired it illegally, he and the seller/supplier should be held jointly liable.

Bollocks!

It's perfectly legal for anyone to own/use a top-handled saw. The manufacturers have put restrictions on their sale, and the resellers (dealers) have voluntarily chosen to uphold these.

There is no such thing as a chainsaw/tophandle license.

another arguement that ive herd from old colluges is that its just so light on the ground, and they wont buy the rear handled version as its ridicuosly priced

Do you not have to prove competancy and have a licence to drive a car?

Yes you do.

But like a gun, in a car you are mostly putting others in more danger than yourself.

In reality chainsaw cause very few injuries and death when compared to roads.

I agree, but there are few saws compared with cars and there are some very nasty injuries from saws.

Any form of licencing or proof of competancy i.e CS30 etc wont harm you guys as you already have it.

It may be enough to put off many of the homeowners, many of whom are quite frankly a danger to themselves.

But as I said before, even a ruling to ensure that saws cannot be sold without a proper handover, will do a lot of good.

Its just wrong that they can be bought online or from a 'shed' in a box IMO.

Feel free to disagree.

I do

Quad bikes, rock climbing, swimming, tractors, skateboards, etc, etc, etc, are all dangerous, but life is full of risks.

I used a saw for years before I took an assessment and have never had any training.

I really hate red tape and legislation, in reality its a money making racket for people who would sooner not do real work.

I like a simple life :001_smile:
