We saw someone selling logs this week at a big posh house, using an old car, logs in boot and carrier bags to unload. Can it get any worse?:confused1:

My american neighbours had a load of logs delivered last year in a Landrover crew cab! the back seats were down apparently and the whole truck full of logs even the passenger seat and foot well!!!!!!!

customer came in the yard for a bag off logs in a very expensive rangerover asked when he wanted the them delivered he just said ill put the seats down and throw them in the back what a mess or and cream leather seats

a cutomer came to our yard, some years back, in a smart jag, he carefully lifted the kids out into their wellies, and came across the yard to pick up his bag of logs leaving the back passenger door open, the ridgeback though this was ideal and jumped into the back, so I shouted at him, and he bounded into the front seat, by the time I got him out there was mud everywhere,

How do you know that he was selling the logs?

That is what it looked like, but as you say, there could be other explanations!

It definately did not look like the person who would have lived in the house, it was just stange to see someone unloading logs into carrier bags to carry up to the house. Could have been a friend I suppose...

The owner of Pencarrow House, Lady Molesworth-St.Aubyn- would fit the person you have described Steph!! She drives an old nissan and unless you know her you would NEVER think she was part of the gentry! The 'old money' have, IME, (in general) little or no money, and drive old cars generally.

They are worth a mint but cash poor. Like many farmers I suppose. Millionaire on paper but can't afford the electric bill.

There is a similar lady in the Newton Abbot area. She's one of the richest people in Devon but you'd think she was skint to see the clothes and the car. As long as she's happy, none of our business I spose.

It was not her, but I know what you mean, it did look like a local bloke making a few quid by being 'entrepreneurial', cant blame anyone in this financial climatefor doing that!
