No they couldn't.

 

They tried a record attempt and the fastest one ever built was in 4 and a bit days. Normal construction time (bearing in mind the whole world was under immense time-pressure) took about 6 weeks.

They weren't much cop as a ship though.As I write, there is one still loaded with bombs in the Thames estuary not too far from my house which broke its back on a sandbank because it was only welded, not rivetted
