Hi Anthony. I run two Husqvarna 55 saws, now obsolete but spares are still available. Early models had no de-compressor. The saw was classed as semi professional bar size 13 -20 inch I have opted to run a 15 Inch set up. To be honest it wont match your new stilhl or Husky models. However both mine have had some serious hammer and have never let me down. A good first saw or spare when the modern racing snakes run out of steam. :001_smile:

Yup, these old Huskys go on forever, big crank bearings and solid design, not the fastest saws on Gods earth but will probably still be going when we are all drawing a pension:thumbup:

Great back yard fire wood saws or a solid reliable backup to the more modern racier stuff.

Thanks for the replies! Looks like I might go for the 55 then as im looking for something to do my cs30/31 with as my little (dont laugh) MS171 wont take a 15" bar. Funds are tight, I would love an MS260 / 026 but they are too expensive so it looks like the husky fits the bill!

Regards,

Anthony.

I have a 55 which is about 8 year old has had loads of use as it was my only saw for a long time. I have never put a spanner on it apart from replacing wear parts I used to run both 15 and 18 bars not the quickest but just keeps on going. Having a decompressor really helps with starting. The wife now uses it as I find it to heavy to use all day and she does not like my ms211 and ms230.
