Blowing a hooley up here today. Up on medium sized leylandii until lunchtime, reducing them. Came down and felt wobbly as if I'd just come off a boat. Too daft to go back up after lunch though.

Not too much rain with it thankfully.

Gusting over 40mph tonight into tomorrow lunchtime.

Stove is ON !

A tad chilly at between 1°C to 3°C. The tops had a dusting three days ago. But thankfully now gone. On Tue. it was 0°C when I got up. But the coppice where I was processing is 340m lower and it had had some sun, so a balmy 3°C.

I was working on a wind-damaged Oak near Thaxted, in Essex yesterday...horrible conditions, heavy rain and very cold. All of a sudden, out of nowhere, the wind picked up alarmingly and gave some pretty fierce gusts. The tree was moving in a way that encouraged a rapid descent followed by a retreat to the wagon. 20 minutes later the wind had dropped and the sun peeped through the clouds...horrible, cold, wet, muddy day.
