Play around with making different bundle sizes and weights. Compact coils/bundles are heavier because they use the same amount of rope but are less awkward to throw. If its a pretty straight forward throw make the coil so that it will unravell once over the branch. For throws that require manipulation (e.g. densely branched crowns) once it is over the target branch, I sometimes make a fixed coil so that it can be weaved through branches for an unhindered ascent.

big shot !!!

or 'Big Ladders'

as for in the tree, make a monkey fist or attach throw bag or sml karab on the rope to give weight as it helps distance & accuracy.

A big shot sure helps!,seen quite a few bloody noses with the krab for weight trick though after its been snagged then finally freed smashing guys in the nose or face!

visualising and try to keep your hand and arm pointing at the target or a fraction above if its high when its released helps.
