Clean all of your gear so it smells of disinfectant when biosecurity search ya bag, dont joke with customs as they have zero sense of humour, enjoy the differences that the southern hemisphere brings, dont moan about stuff-if you dont like it, tough!, be sensible with the sun-it will kill you if you let it, drink tonnes of water, get to know the aussie girls and have fun. and remember if its not as good as you expected, NZ is not too far away:)

Hi DREW B, im also going out to Aus this year so your previous advise is much appreciated.

This might be a dumb question but could you recommend exactly how to clean my equipment thoroughly. Dont fancy getting my trousers, lid and boots confiscated.

Just wash it and then check for any sawdust, seeds, mud etc and remove. Light spray with disinfectant at the end. Its just common sense really bro, and declare everything when they ask what you've got- normally they will clean stuff that isn't clean enough as long as your open with them.
