when silky meets bridge.... ever wondered?

i cut my bridge with a brand new silky, its still going strong a year on ! Lucky though, i knew they cut ropes easily but th evideo was quite a surprise!

Was it treemagineers at the AA show a couple of years back who were demonstrating th forces on your spine when you fall....they were just tapping the climbing line (which had a 100 kilo weight attached) with the silky and it was failing? Scary stuff.

Yup, rope under tension does not approve of sharp things. Mate showed me a picture the other day of where he tapped his access line with his silky, there were two or three strands left. Silly boy. Lucky boy.

Really would of thought and the bridges would of been a bit stronger then that and slightly more cut proof if there's such a thing.

yea you would think that would be the case but it seems not. Maybe there should be a thin and of course, strong wire inside the bridge or even wire woven into it somehow.... something to think about there mr manufacturer.

i was talking about this the other day, great vid... i carry my silky on my left side (all sharps on the left, so im constanlty pulling it across infront of me, very very carefuly i might add, perhaps i'll try it on my right hand side for a change....

mmmm. stell core bridges is something manufacturers should be thinking about.

 

nipped my rope and bridge before only a matter of time before something cuts the bridge and bad accident will happen
