ive been delivering to a local 'american themed' pub, ive been amazed how quickly this pub get through a load, we deliver to several other pubs & no-one comes close to this guys two loads per week!!!!! today i mentioned we should try bigger logs before an area manager notices how much he is spending, he replied that he would prefer wetter logs!!!!!! :confused1:

i then suggested that maybe as was a monday night & the pub was empty would he not be better to not light the fire :001_huh:!!!!!

after chatting for a few mins he tells me he his manager has asked about how much he has spent on firewood & isnt impressed !!!

do i keep supplying good quality logs & make the most of it before he is told no more......

or supply some wetter logs which may last a couple more days??

you should supply the amount he asks for. if he wants to wet them that's his business , but your advice to him to not light the fire if it's empty seems far more sensible . I expect he will start to use less now he's realised the cost.

I'd normally say, sell the guy what he wants, but firewood is a fickle game, if people see YOUR wet logs in his pub, they might not buy from you.

I only sell the odd load of logs but keep getting requests for green ash for woodburners as it burns a bit longer.

Probably sold more green than seasoned this year, it suits me better as i dont have much storage space.

I have a few customers that don't like well seasoned logs, and the some don't care if they are as they are storing them anyway. It seems to be the ones that are burning them from the get go want well seasoned logs.

Times are really hard for 'pubs', loads are closing and half empty most nights.

They are often the best customers if they have a good woodburner, hope you dont loose the business and can persaude him to cut down on lighting the fire..
