Totally agree on the sleep, I'm not living too well at the moment!

I see the strength and conditioning important for injury prevention more than anything.

There is always a danger of trying to plan everything and do nothing though..think my best stint was about 10 months (continuous planned exercise and diet), then dislocated my knee in BJJ then I let depression defeat me for a while, and finally back on the up. I'm convinced my ligament injury recovery was prolonged by the negative feelings I had about it..

eat like a caveman, work like one and your sorted.14 years since picked up a weight and started martial arts at very young age,and nobody can outwork me that i know of.

Last week in one 8 hour day laid 250 feet of drainage pipe and dug and barrowed over 20 ton of clay and dirt and layed in the pebble and hardcore of same amount, without being as fit as a fiddle there is no way i could do that

my young lacky was dying after first hour haha.A healthy strong fit and flexible body is a business asset, time off sick means no pennies so look after your most valuable bit of equipment. :)

Some people are fit for purpose ie hard graft .

I worked with a power lifter once and he was a grafter . Watched an ultra lean bodybuilder landscaping once and he was crap . Even the little weedy guy was out grafting him .:001_smile:

Very true Paul.

Loads of bodybuilder types are useless at real graft because they can only lift in straight lines.

When you combine hard graft and weights, you create beasts.

BMI is a load of bollocks.

Every member of Englands 2003 World Cup winning squad was clinically obese according to BMI.

It can't differentiate between muscle and fat.

course it is! You don't need numbers to know if you're fat, look in the mirror.

Too true on the body builder statement. All show un no go.You want a grafter go for a strongman. Its all about GPP general physical prepardness.Strength cardio.Altho alot of it is mindset.Without hard physical graft everyday I'd feel lost,Its like today a climber I was subcontracting for,I took the challenge upon myself to make sure there was only one limb or bit of brash on the floor at all times whilst he was cutting, why walk back from chipper or walk with the brash, why not sprint Each way? That's how I work everyday when I can fit thru the spaces with the brash.Boom backand forth from drop zone to chipper with as much brash as I can handle and as fast as my legs will take me.It's just how I enjoy to work, hard and fast most young uns nowadays can only just find it in themselves to drag there butts out of bed
