they cant take them to the scrappies because they are a sealed container its the same as fire extinguishers the scrappies wont touch em cause they go bang when you process them

Scrap won’t take cylinders, it all goes in a furnace, you can see the problem of dumping a pressurised cylinder (with or without gas residue) in a vat of boiling steel, plus the cylinder belongs to the gas company.

the last company i worked with had a fleet off about 12 metal shears on excavators so i had a go at cutting fire extinguishers i still havent found both parts of the fire extinguishers yet. dangerous and impressive at the same time:biggrin:

If it's a calor bottle and empty you should be able to take any size bottle and pay for a full one of the size you require, although I have heard that some calor dealers are getting a bit funny about doing that now.
