I bought a 15kw 110V mobile lighting because it had a 3 phase alternator. I then had it rewired by our local generator experts ( P Cowell) to give 3 phase 415V and single phase 240V. Cost of rewire was a lot less than price of transformer with no power losses.

Just a quick post I can get deeper and more boring if required.

I would just get a 240/110v as the transformer will be a pita to cart about. Also that tranny is only good for 1.6 kw so if you try to boil a kettle will be in melt down before you get your tea. A eu set with genuine honda engine is a good move. Most kettles now are 3kw so 3.5 kw would be a good move.

Generators tend to be 4 wire or 12 wire. John I suspect yours was 12 wire you can get 3 lots of single phase from any 3 ph genset balanced up to the max out put. If you buy a 4 wire set in future it cant be rewired 3 phase. But your 12 wire set could be rewired to get just 1 lot of single ph but will be down rated to 60% output.

Thats the simple version :thumbup1:
