Guys what would you charge for a day for the following.

Hire out my company 1 truck 1 chipper 1 climber 1 groundsmen all the gear needed for any tree size.

Also take away the chips and pay to tip off.

So basically a date rate for hire out your company.

Cheers

Just don't do it!

I offer a cheap day rate but we'll only bring two small saws and no petrol or diesel, thats extra, that way we get nothing done and the job takes longer/costs more so they should have got us to quote/work on a fixed price basis.

Why on earth would you hire out everything?

Also for a "day rate" you would be expected to be on site for a day 8-9 hrs and tip off etc in your own time unless you carefully specify otherwise.

We do some day rate stuff but for special clients only who understand that the day starts and finishes in my yard not theres.

+1

Day rate to a private person is just an invitation for them to abuse your production capacity or demonstrate their ignorance of our craft.IMHO

For large commercial clients we charge day rate, but that is for climbing/chipping only.No clean up,no chip hauling etc.

Agreed, thats why we bring minimal kit, that way can't dismantle trees etc. For a cheap day rate you could even not bring a saw, hand saw only.

In this case you can charge a huge rate cos you could climb all day and potentially produce 3-4 truck loads of chippings. This bring up the conundrum of actually charging more for "leave on site" jobs.

I do this often, if its £500/day for tree work removing debris then it must be £800+ day for tree work not removing debris because in the time saved you could do and extra 300 quids worth of tree work.

All of the above makes it sound as though I do day rate stuff but I don't really. I base my quotes on a day rate that I want to achieve for the given task but then the work is as per quote, with only some very special exceptions.
