Got a chap on the door last winter by a well dressed woman who put her 110 down a big ditch right outside my house. when i went out to view it was almost lying on its side and that is no exaggeration. I asked her if she had tried reversing it out the way she went in, i felt it a bit of a stupid question as it was in a horrendous position.

The answer was no, so i got in put in low and astonishingly out it came.

I've been driving 4x4's for over 2 decades and i'm telling you no other vehicle could have done that.

That incident decided it for me.

never in a million years would i buy a landrover to me there the most over rated 4x4 and not worth the extra cash, there are plenty of other 4x4 on the market that cost far less but will go everywhere a land rover will and last the same amount of time.

Such as.......?

They use defenders in the china clay pits in StAustell, possibly one of the harshest environments possible for a vehicle. Daimler-benz own all the vehicles, as a leasing company, and the garage I use have the servicing contract. About 3 years back daimler benz got fed up with the servicing costs and the fact that vehicles were just getting killed, eg a £20k 110 was fetching about £300 in auction aged 3 years in the worst case. So they bought a fleet of rangers and some hiluxes. After 6 months they got rid of that lot, as 80% were either completely knackered or beyond ecenomical repair. The only ones that survived were the managers ones which never went in the pits.

They wewnt back to defender.

To me that says it all. :001_smile:

If you need a land rover there is nothing better:thumbup:

Great as a tipper for the use of a chip box, I would have one for that reason. If I was just wanting to buy a 4x4 I would buy any of the so called jap crap, as it's warm comfy reliable normally better on fuel and they can't be stolen by 15 year with a screwdriver.

Well cool mate. Many land cruisers enter?

No not many, I have seen two in the last five or six years. I know they use them in Oz but not many here or the rest of Europe. Seen one Hilux, a few Jeeps, quite a few Suzukis but of course its mainly Land Rovers and in particular Defender 90's.

Defenders are brilliant! So what if they drive like dogs, and have the turning circle of a ship! They are great work horses. I couldn't do my job without mine. You can keep yer jap crap, buy British!!

Hey treebloke, you know my brother Jim- giant of a bloke, has a toyota lardcruiser. He has just joined Arbtalk as Pugwash.

Yes I know Pugwash he is a sound bloke, used to have a Range Rover but defected to the dark side and bought a Landbruiser:sneaky2:.

I spoke with him the other day, he will be up at my place next week collecting some wood for his wood burner, guess once he has cut and split it all he will be down to 17 stone:001_smile:

I remember him saying his bro was a wood butcher:thumbup:
