Its true I cant take credit for the idea. But at least I have a rope wrench to test it out with haha. I sort of tested it yesterday evening about 2m off the ground on a small birch outside the house. Seems like it will work well as long as the last braid of the hitch is between the turnbuckle and my line so it doesnt rub. But when ive got the length sorted I can heat shrink it:thumbup1:

How do you attach the turnbuckle to the HC pulley?

It would great if they could be bolted together for maximum rigidity.

I have this as my thether also i set it up using an isc fixed cheeck pulley inbetween the cheeks, ben does the same you have to tie the Vt so the turnbuckle doesnt rub agaisnt the rope, if using a Hc the hole is big enough to fit a krab through if you use a cornertrap it wil l keep it fairly rigid.

For me its no more risk than having the wrench near my face. Hopefully the stiffness will stop it flopping about so much and decrease the chance of face smasing..

I've been attaching my ascender to the top of the rw so you don't have to dress/tend it. Probably been said and already done. Just as good as a croll for long ascents

So I did what I always said I wouldnt do today.. used the wrench on a big lemon scented gum weight reduction. Was really awkward because for a lot of branches there is nowhere to redirect the line above and when coming back in if you dont keep most of your weight on your line its easy to snap off whole limbs.. Anyway, it would have been easier DDrt but at least it was some practice and it meant i could drop down on top of an alder that needed deadwooding at the end of the job. The solid turnbuckle tether works really well and stops the wrench twisting around behind. No smashed face either
