**Looking to buy Compact Chipper**

I am looking to buy a compact chipper either ex demo or second hand (in good condition). I have looked at Timberwolf TW13/75G, some of the Jo Beau range and Greenmech CS100. I only have experience with track and to-behind chippers and would welcome some advice from anyone with experience of compact chippers.

Seriously though, ask the questions you have in mind and you'll get a warts n all response I'm sure. Andy Collins has a Jo Beau and Stephen Blair has a GreenMech and they are the founder members of the club.

Had a CS100 green mech with the 18hp engline on hire this week, Had 18 good size willows to do, Put a day on it started at 8 and finshed by 3;30, Geart small chipper, Do not get the one with the 14hp engline on it, Painfull at times,

I have the 14 hp 1 and have never once thought it needed more horses.

Do you never have any issues with yours Stephen?

Mines the 18hp version.

I've burned out 3 sets of belts now, normally they last 2 changes of blades and I'm up to 145 hours on the retro fitted clock.

I've also over greased the bearings by greasing them just once!

This wears them out hydraulically so I've decided never to grease them again ever!

I've also smashed a blade, on what, I shall never know.

However, its an amazing machine and really punches above its weight, excellent value for money.

Never buy a green mech all I've ever had and seen is problems definitely the worst chipper I have ever come across over the last ten years!!!! I would look into the timber wolf or if you really want quality go for a jensen but a lot more expensive!!!!

I had the Timberwolf version, much as I like timberwolf it was a bit of a shocker to feed, the hopper was much too high. Havent used the greenmech equiv. but it looks a lot more ergonomic.

I love my greenmech cs100. Will happily fill my truck in less time that I think!

 

It likes belts and the blades seem to dull quickly mind! I'm really finicky about what I put in. Although my groundy may be less careful which I think is the issue!
