I might have to buy a bit of land around Guildford, and hook the caravan up lol, jeez that was a good rate.

I wouldn't bother Lee, I don't know who the Guildford contractor was but i've been operating here for 6 years and any more than 500.00 a day for a two man team is hoping. The usual is 200.00 per man per day.

J The Tree who was the contractor nr Guildford Dryad or Advanced ?

Can`t disclose chaps, as he is in the great woodyard in the sky, but was one of the founding fathers of tree care in this country.

Been in this biz for 25 years, when i started far less of us around so got better money as less competition.

Now to stay ahead run bigger trucks and chippers, 60% of job is clearing up, quicker you can do it, the more work you do

Nobody climber around here can command more than £150 on a regular basis. Not even High Scale the expert topper and lopper!

Hmm, If I did try to command that kind of money all the time I would be sat on my arse at home or I would just get big, crappy, hard, horrible work.

I work four days a week (One off for looking after boy) and am never out of work, touch wood.

Oh and Paul, topper and lopper yes but expert?

do you think its unreasonable for a decent climber to ask for £21,000 a year

Yeah why not, remember...

you have to earn your employer a lot more than that to cover your wages, sick/holiday pay , supplied equipment and employers National insurance, possibly even pension contributions.

so you have to do 30,000 pounds of climbing before he makes a profit on you.
